Courage, Cappy! is the 21st episode of the series and the 21st episode of Season One.
Admiring his courageous and heroic background, Cappy decides that he wants to become a field hamster just like Boss, and the Ham-Hams are worried about him losing his home life with his owners, Kip and Sue. They try and convince him to go back home to his humans. At school, Laura and another student quarrel and eventually rip up a drawing that Kana made herself. Suspiciously, Kana goes home early and Laura worries that the situation is her fault.
Despite having a happy hamster life and being loved by his owners, young Cappy feels restless. When he leaves one day to go to the Clubhouse, he is caught by Boss stranded on a small hill in the middle of a flood river. Boss vaults over to him and the two sail down the river, and he eventually helps Cappy to safety.
Cappy begins to admire the refined Boss for his bravery and heroism. He takes a nap in Boss' hay but wakes up to find he has overslept. He peeks outside to see it has turned dark and decides he will stay with Boss for the night.
The next morning, Cappy announces he will become a field hamster, like Boss. The Ham-Hams ponder whether or not they should just talk him out of his plan. They allow him to experience the life of a field hamster, thinking he will realize how tough it is, and turn back home. Cappy eventually feels it isn't for him, and returns to his owners.
In the meantime, Laura goes to visit Kana to apologize for tearing a drawing, but Kana is not angry at all, and Laura soon realizes that Kana’s anger was all in her head. Both Laura and Cappy learn an important lesson.
- Brandy (cameo)
- This is the first episode to feature Pashmina without Penelope. The former appears in the scene where the Ham-Hams lure Cappy home to the pet shop and she doesn't speak in this episode. A later episode, Ham-Ham Gang at the Aquarium!, will have her speaking appearance without Penelope. Pashmina is the only one that doesn't speak through the whole episode.
