First Time at the Beach is the 6th episode of the series and the 6th episode of Season One.

Laura's family goes to the beach. Hamtaro, along with the other Ham-Hams, go to the beach too, by hiding inside the family car. Later on, a storm breaks while Laura and Kana are away from the main beach. The Ham-Hams use Laura's hat to get her father's attention and successfully lead him to the girls.

Plot

Laura's parents take her on her first trip to the beach, but when they tell her that the water can be dangerous for hamsters, she decides not to take Hamtaro. However, Hamtaro and the Ham-Hams have other ideas! They want to see the ocean, so they make a plan to go to the beach too, after agreeing that if they stick together, they can look out for one another. They hide in the back of the car as it travels to the beach.

When they get there, they play for a while until it begins to rain. Meanwhile, Kana is teaching Laura how to swim, further down the beach. When the rain starts to get nasty, they hide in a small cave in the side of a cliff for shelter. The Ham-Hams find them and devise a plan to save them. As Laura and Kana's families and searching for the girls, the Ham-Hams steal Mr. Haruna's hat and lure him to where the girls are.

With Laura's father wondering if the hat was alive or if his eyes were playing tricks on him, they return home.
