Oxnard (こうしくん) is a big, gluttonous hamster. He is Hamtaro's best friend, and is the love interest-later-husband of Pepper. While he's a little shy and cowardly, he will always be there to lend a hand; though he might have trouble controlling his appetite along the way.

Character description

Owned by Kana Iwata, Oxnard is a hamster with an insatiable appetite. He is usually seen eating, and is easily tempted by sunflower seeds - even moreso than the other Ham-Hams. He is Hamtaro's first and best friend; and coincidentally, their owners are best friends too. Oxnard was initially shown to be rather shy; but as his friendship with Hamtaro grew, his bashfulness faded away.

Oxnard is rather clumsy, but he has always been a deeply caring friend to Hamtaro and the Ham-Hams. Although he goes on many adventures like the rest of the Ham-Hams, he doesn't seem to be as active as they are, having to visibly run slower than the others. He is usually seen with a sunflower seed in case he gets hungry. Oxnard is very loyal, and despite his cowardly nature, he can be very brave when called to action.

Relationships

Hamtaro

Oxnard was the first hamster Hamtaro met after moving into their new house. The two have been best friends ever since, holding a brother-like bond with each other. They were also neighbors (until Oxnard went to live with Pepper late into the series), and even their owners are best friends.

Pepper

Oxnard and Pepper are official lovers. Oxnard first admitted his feelings - thanks to Hamtaro's encouragement - in Oxnard's Big Crush, when he yells "I really like you!" to Pepper from afar. In many of their encounters, however, Oxnard and Pepper are prone to arguing with each other; but generally, things are settled quickly. Despite their occasional outbursts, Oxnard loves her deeply, and she returns his feelings.

Late into the series, Oxnard refuses to return home with Kana, and stays at Dylan's farm with Pepper. In Happy Ham-Ham Wedding!, the finale of the Hamtaro series, Oxnard and Pepper return to the Ham-Hams to announce they are getting married, and invite every Ham-Ham they have ever met to the wedding.
