The Hamtaro Wiki

Rainbow Land is a country made of clouds, ruled by Prince Bo. It appears in Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue. The Rainbow Girls and the Bo Bunch live there.

Rainbow Land from the beginning of Ham-Hams and the Prince of Rainbow Land

Rainbow Land appears to be a sort of floating island that appears high above the clouds. It is surrounded by many rainbow bridges and possibly sentient sheep-shaped clouds.

Major known locations of Rainbow Land are Rainbow Land Castle, Ham-Ham Forest, and an Unnamed Town.

Besides Prince Bo and The Rainbow Girls, a variety of unnamed hamsters are shown to reside in the unnamed town and are seen again at the end of OVA 3. Where they accept Prince Bo as their ruler, holding a few different kinds of flags. Possibly the official flags of Rainbow Land.

Rainbow Land Castle

Rainbow Land Castle[]

Rainbow Castle appears to be where Prince Bo grew up. It is his home as well as the home to the Queen of Rainbow Land. It is seen in both Ham-Hams and the Prince of Rainbow Land and briefly in the Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games OVA.

Bo describes it as "a thousand times bigger than any house" and that he gets to eat whatever he wants. It seems that Prince Bo is treated very luxuriously while staying at his castle.

Curiously, the natives of Rainbow Land did not recognize Bo as their Prince until he stated so. Possibly implying that Prince Bo rarely left the castle at all prior to meeting Hamtaro and the Ham-Hams.

Unnamed Town

Unnamed Town

Unnamed Town[]

The Unnamed Town is a place that Prince Bo, Hamtaro, Boss, and Oxnard visit while on their journey to find "the most valuable thing."

It is shown to have a large lake in the center, a fountain with a marketplace, and dozens of structures with carvings and paintings of suns and rainbows on them. The town seems to have a sizeable population of unknown, unnamed hamsters of varying shapes and sizes.

Ham-Ham Forest[]

Ham-Ham Forest

Ham-Ham Forest

Ham-Ham Forest is where The Queen of Rainbow Land sends Prince Bo in Ham-Hams and the Prince of Rainbow Land, tasked with

the quest of finding "the most valuable thing." It's one of the first things Prince Bo tells Hamtaro about upon meeting him.

Not much is known about Ham-Ham Forest for a good chunk of the OVA, simply being mentioned as a place that Bo needs to go. It isn't until Hamtaro mentions going to the forest to the residents of the Unnamed Town that the nature of the location begins to come to light. Howdy states that it's haunted, and Maxwell states that nobody who has gone to the forest has ever returned. Making this a location no one wants to visit.

The forest itself has a grey and gloomy atmosphere, the landscape is warped, and the trees are mostly dead or even shaped to have scary faces on their trunks.

A warped tower can be found deep within, and the whole area is guarded by a dark, shape-shifting being who calls themselves the "Lord of the Forest." A sly creature that loathes trespassers and tricks Hamtaro and Prince Bo into thinking that "the most valuable thing" is waiting for them at the top of the warped tower.

It is revealed by the end of Ham-Hams and the Prince of Rainbow Land that the warped tower was simply an illusion which was cast over Rainbow Land Castle. This, plus "The Lord of the Forest" were simply illusions created by The Queen of Rainbow Land in order to help Prince Bo in his task. However, it is not known if the forest itself is an illusion created by The Queen of Rainbow Land or if only the tower and "The Lord of the Forest" were the only illusions that her majesty conjured.

Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue[]

Rainbow Land is only seen at the end of the main game in Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue. This version of Rainbow Land is far different from it's anime counterpart.

Rainbow Land in this game is connected not only by a rainbow, but a rainbow train station which takes Prince Bo and the Ham-Hams to Rainbow Land. The rainbow train station is also used to help transport the ham-hams between new areas unlocked in the post-game as well as to Rainbow Land itself.

Rainbow Land itself is portrayed as land consisting of almost entirely clouds, mirrors, posters of Prince Bo, and rainbow-colored objects. There is a large, rainbow-colored machine which allows you to replay any of the Ham Games you've previously played. When played at the machine, you can earn Rainbow Land's own unique set of stickers. Rainbow Land also has its own store

However, Rainbow Land in this game's main attraction is the Rainbow Land Theatre. A place where many ham-hams gather to watch performances. In the post-game the player will be tasked with inviting various NPCs to Rainbow Land to watch a performance. A rainbow-colored escalator leads to the main stage where a play will be performed, should the player meet all the requirements.

After successfully inviting an NPC ham-ham to Rainbow Land, they will remain there for the rest of the game.

Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games[]

Rainbow Land appears once again as the main location of the Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games video game, as well as the place where the Ham-Ham Games take place.

It is also very different from both it's Anime and Rainbow Rescue counterparts, with the Clubhouse being directly connected to it. Here it has a beach, a stadium, sunflower fields, team houses, a broadcast station, and many other locations where olympic-style games take place.

Team Rainbow represents Rainbow Land in the Ham-Ham Games. Using a flag that contains all the colors of the rainbow in the shape of a paw print.

Trivia[]

  • Rainbow Land has actually been shown to have a number of flags representing it throughout the series. Two appear during Ham-Hams and the Prince of Rainbow Land, and the other is a banner used to represent Team Rainbow in Hamtaro: Ham-Ham Games.

This would seemingly imply that Rainbow Land is more than just a land but an entire country. As a flag is often used as a portrait of a country's culture and history, and evidence of a monarchy (Prince Bo and the Queen of Rainbow Land) further solidifies this idea.
