Tux (ペンハムくん) is a hamster who appeared in Hamtaro: Rainbow Rescue and in one episode of the anime series (Tux and Salia). He loves to visit the sea, and his design resembles that of a penguin. He is very close with his grandmother, Salia.

Creation

Tux was created for, and the winner of, a Hamtaro "Friend Contest" in 2000. The contest was held in the Shogakukan Learning Magazines, and the character was created by a Third Grade student.^[1] However, any further information about his creation (including the original design submission) is unknown.
